Reader Review
An Octopus in My Ouzo
5 Star Review by John Searancke

An Octopus in My Ouzo.

Island life: that’s a phrase that resonates with me, because I too live on a small island, though mine is considerably larger and more populated than that of this author. Words flow so fluidly from Jennifer’s pen that I was swept away by the veritable tsunami of her praise for the rocky outcrop in the Dodecanese that she has decided to call her home. She has a way with words, and they show most clearly when fulsome and descriptive phrases and sentences are used for the local flora and fauna, the ancient pathways and old buildings on the island, and last but not least the engaging villagers amongst whom she has chosen to live. Along the way there is heartbreak, but Jennifer shows her courage and moves ever forward to live her life as she wants to do, and for a single person with not a lot of Greek language, that is to be applauded. By the time that I finished the book, I felt that I knew her quite well, and that I had, in part, travelled along her journey with her. To say that I rushed off afterwards to look at her website and blog in order to see pictures of places named in the book gives an idea of the enthusiasm that such polished writing can generate. Deservedly a 5 star book.

I was provided with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
