Twosday sends a sign from The Universe to author Sarah Jane Butfield

#Twosday and day 8 of #the100daysproject

On this rare day when the date format takes the form of a palindrome - 22/02/2022 - meaning it reads the same forwards or backward, I started to review my progress in my current challenge and discovered I had written 17,776 words since I began 8 days ago. Whilst being happy with that I decided to check my journal as I knew some days I had managed a higher word count whilst other days teetered just above the personal minimum I had set myself. I decided to divide the total by 8 days for an average and look what happen!

17,776 divided by 8 days = 2,222 daily average!
I think this is my sign from 'The Universe' that I am on track to complete my WIP (work in progress) ahead of schedule and get this off to the editor for intense scrutiny.
'Signs' don't always appear as dramatic lightning bolts or life-changing miracles, sometimes they are messages saying, 'keep going' or 'you've got this.
On my journey to re-establish myself on the writing circuit one thing is for sure, 'signs' in whatever form they appear
Palindromes are rare and the next is due in 2030, I discovered this morning that there it only occurs 10 times in 4000 yrs! In addition, the fact that this day of recurring twos' happens on a Tuesday or as is trending today #twosday makes this feel even more special and rare.

On Twitter today @MatthewStadlen posted:

'at 22 minutes and 22 seconds past ten this evening, the time will be: 22.22.22.22.2.22'

My word count for today was already included in the 17,776 as I prepared for a busy day with my grandson, but as I resume writing this afternoon I can't help wondering how many words will I have written by that time?

Thank you for reading and feel free to comment on your writing or reading challenges and goals.

Take care,

Sarah Jane

Back in the driving seat!

My return to life as an author

In 2018, I had to make the extremely difficult decision to put my author life on hold to focus on my health and the needs of my growing family. Despite numerous attempts to get back to some form of writing or book promotion, even in some small way over the last 4 years, nothing seemed to work and it became frustrating that I couldn't feel or pursue the passion that had previously filled my life. The harsh reality is that the act of writing and publishing is all or nothing for me. I am not conditioned to do 'half a job' in any area of my personal or professional life. To feel productive and add value to any project I need to give 100% to every element and this meant facing the fact that until I was in a position to do that I would continue to be the author in the background watching my author friends pursue their passion the way I used to. I felt unable to contribute or talk in our normal forums, despite encouragement, because I felt as if I didn't belong or deserve to be there. Yes, there is a degree of self-pity in that statement, again unlike me, however as you will discover over the next few weeks, if you follow my blog, the reasons for this ran deep and would lead me to complete a huge amount of self-healing to recover and regain the inner strength and self-worth that would boost my confidence and enable me to take a big leap of faith!

This brings us to today...
In the words first phrased by writer Elbert Hubbard in 1915 'He picked up the lemons that Fate had sent him and started a lemonade stand', later adapted by numerous modern-day authors, including Dale Carnegie who rephrased it in his 1948 book, 'How to Stop Worrying and Start Living', saying, 'If You Have a Lemon, Make a Lemonade.'

It's time for me to get my lemonade stall up and running again!

Family circumstances have again given me a nudge in the right direction and have helped me get my plans to relaunch my author platform with the release of two new books this year off the ground. It's a tough gig to earn a living from writing and publishing however I am not starting from scratch this time and I am humbled and thankful for the support, advice, and offers of freelance work that I have already received since starting to mention my plans to connections in my social media forums and networks.

Coming up in 2022...

Book 3 in The Nomadic Nurse series, watch out for the title and cover reveal

Catch up on the story so far with Book 1 Ooh Matron, Book 2 Bedpans to Boardrooms

Book 4 in The What, Why, Where, When, Who & How Book Promotion Series

It's good to be back, feel free to comment and connect as a reader or an author.

Thank you for reading and take care,
